The present invention relates to a positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer for imaging lactate uptake, wherein the tracer is [18F]-3-fluoro-2-hydroxypropionic acid or a salt thereof, preferably a salt of [18F]-3-fluoro-2-hydroxypropionate, also named [18F]-3-fluorolactate or [18F]-3-fluoro-2-hydroxypropanoate.
