CLAIMS

What is claimed is:

A genetically engineered bacterial strain, wherein said bacterial strain comprises: a) a disruption of ldhA,b) a disruption of adhE, andc) a disruption of ack-pta; wherein said bacterial strain produces at least 1.5 mole succinate per mole glucose under anaerobic conditions.
